Makirina Viewpoint Total score -
As you enter Pirovac from the direction of Šibenik there is a hill with a beautiful view of Pirovac Bay and of the town of Pirovac.
THE VIEW FROM THE LOOKOUT POINT
From Makirina Hill there is a beautiful view towards Makirina Bay, famous for its therapeutic mud, as well as the Island of Murter, the town of Pirovac and Lake Vrana. It is hard to imagine that only 500 m away from the last houses, at a height of only 70 m above sea level, exists a place where you can enjoy beautiful Dalmatian scenery. Breathe in deeply and let your senses enjoy!
HOW TO GET THERE
From Pirovac, walk down the coast to Vrilo Bay, situated on the east side of Pirovac. From the chapel at the end of the bay, go down Makirina Street, heading south. After 200 m the road branches – take the left path that leads you 550 m up to the top (the right path is 1350 m long and leads to Makirina Bay and the archaeological site of Ivinj with St. Martin’s Church).
If you are arriving by car from the direction of Pirovac, turn off the Adriatic highway to Vrilo Bay. You can also get to the Adriatic highway if you leave Vrilo Bay in the direction of Vodice. Although there is no designated parking lot in Vrilo Bay, it is possible to find a place to park.
The residents of Pirovac have not yet set up the peak of Makirina Hill as a lookout point, so you will not see a signpost in Vrilo Bay (do not let signposts for Makirina Bay and the archaeological site of Ivinj with St. Martin’s Church confuse you!). There is no signpost at the top of Makirina Hill either, but the wonderful view will prove to you that you're in the right place!
Free of charge.
