Fort of St. Nicholas is situated at the entrance to the Šibenik Canal. Its powerful structure is evidence of the turbulent history.

ABOUT THE FORTRESS
Fort St. Nicholas is located at the entrance to the St. Anthony Canal, and was built during the 16th century to defend the city against Turkish attacks from the sea.
It was designed by the Venetian army builder Michiele Sammichelle. The lower portions are made of white stone and the upper of brick. Fort St. Nicholas is among the strongest fortifications on the Croatian Adriatic coast. (Source: Tourist Association of the Šibenik-Knin Municipality)

HOW TO GET THERE
The location of Fort St. Nicholas is marked on the Google map. Cars can be parked on land. The area where cars can be parked is shown on the picture in the gallery. From the parking area there is a 950 meter walk to the fortress. Most of the way it is an easy walk. A little extra care needs to be taken where the path passes over layers of stone.
