Fishing on Lake Vrana Total score -
If you plan to do some fresh water fishing during your vacation, fishing on Lake Vrana is an ideal choice!
WHAT TO CATCH
Given that the water in Lake Vrana (Vransko jezero) has a high level of salinity, there are both marine and freshwater fish species in the lake. Of freshwater species, it is only eel (Anguilla anguilla) and river midwife (Salaria fluviatilis) for whom the lake is their natural habitat, while other species were introduced into the lake from another environment. Such are, for example, carp (Cyprinus carpio), which was deliberately introduced in 1949, then the Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio), roach (Scardinius erythrophthalmus), catfish (Silurus glanis), pike (Esox lucius) and gambuzija (Gambusia affinis) which was introduced because it feeds on the larvae of mosquitoes and thereby controls them. Of marine fish, the most abundant are mullets. (Source: Lake Vrana Nature Park)
