ABOUT THE EVENT
Not all cities are as fortunate as Zadar to have survived so long. There are many which once flourished, which today have long been forgotten. One such city is Vrana near Pakoštane and the Lake Vrana hinterland. This was a medieval town once said to be “one of the happiest cities in Dalmatia." Its history is turbulent and it is a fascinating place to explore. What cannot fail to amaze are the gigantic steps which three LAURANA brothers (from Vrana) took from this small town into the wider world: Francesco Laurana’s sculptures are exhibited in the Louvre in Paris alongside Michelangelo’s works; his brother Luciano was one of the most famous renaissance builders in Italy, and myths persist about the personality and talents of the third Laurana brother.
During Knightly Days in Vrana there are re-enactments of events and life from historic times: a medieval camp, knight tournaments, old crafts, plays, knight-horsemen from Croatia and abroad, falcon trainers, jugglers, charming folk costumes, uniforms, instruments of war, and a rich a culinary offer based on medieval recipes. Everything will delight the eyes whilst the fruits of the land from the Vrana fields will surely delight your taste buds. (Source: Tourist Board Pakoštane)
